Primary School Solar Installation, Greater Manchester

Manchester Renewables installed a commercial solar PV system on a primary school during its new-build construction phase. Panels were fitted across both flat and pitched roof sections of the school building, with the system integrated into the build programme for a clean, seamless finish.

Installing solar during construction is the most cost-effective approach — scaffolding is already in place, roof access is straightforward, and the system can be wired in before the building is handed over. The school benefits from lower energy bills from day one.

The system was sized to cover a large proportion of the school's daytime electricity demand — lighting, IT equipment, kitchen, and heating controls. With pupils on-site during peak solar generation hours, self-consumption rates are high, meaning more of the energy generated is used rather than exported.
