Electrical installation with Fox ESS battery system by Manchester Renewables

Professional Energy Solutions

The transition to renewable energy demands more from your electrical infrastructure than ever before. Solar panels and battery storage systems both require specialist electrical work carried out by qualified, accredited electricians who understand both BS 7671 wiring regulations and the specific requirements of renewable energy installations. Hiring a general electrician without renewable energy experience risks non-compliant installations, failed inspections and invalidated warranties on expensive equipment.

Manchester Renewables employs NIC/EIC Approved electricians who work on renewable energy and low-carbon technology installations across Greater Manchester. Every job is carried out in full compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations), Part P Building Regulations and MCS technical standards. We issue all required certificates, notify Building Control where needed, and guarantee our workmanship for a minimum of six years.

NIC/EIC Approved

All electrical work is carried out by NIC/EIC Approved contractors, giving you full Part P Building Regulations compliance and peace of mind.

Common Questions

Why do I need a specialist electrician for solar panel installation?
Solar PV installations involve both DC and AC electrical work, grid connection applications (G98/G99), and compliance with specific MCS technical standards alongside BS 7671. A general electrician without solar experience may not understand DC string sizing, inverter commissioning, or the notification requirements for DNO grid connections. Using an NIC/EIC Approved renewable energy electrician means your system is safe, compliant and eligible for the Smart Export Guarantee.
What electrical certifications should I receive after work is completed?
For new installations (such as solar PV or battery storage circuits), you should receive an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC). For additions to existing circuits, you should receive a Minor Works Certificate. Both documents confirm the work has been tested, meets BS 7671 standards, and has been notified to your local Building Control department. We provide these as standard with every job.
Do I need to upgrade my consumer unit for solar panels or a battery?
In many cases, yes. Older consumer units with rewirable fuses or MCBs without RCD protection are not suitable for modern renewable energy systems. Solar PV and battery storage require dedicated circuits with RCBO protection, Type 2 surge protection devices, and often additional ways in the consumer unit. We assess your existing board during every survey and recommend upgrades where necessary.
Are your electricians qualified to sign off their own work under Part P?
Yes. As NIC/EIC Approved contractors, our electricians are authorised to self-certify electrical work under Part P of the Building Regulations in England and Wales. This means we can issue the required Building Regulations Compliance Certificate directly, without the need for a separate Building Control inspection.
How much do electrician services cost for renewable energy installations?
Costs vary depending on the scope of work. A consumer unit upgrade typically costs between £500 and £1,200. Electrical installation for a standard domestic solar PV system ranges from £400 to £800 as part of a full solar installation. EICR testing costs between £150 and £300 for a typical home. We provide transparent, itemised quotes for all work before starting.
